Virgie Elliott Obituary

"ALL day and ALL night ANGELS are watching over the Elliott Family"

"When my feeble life is over, time for me will be no more, Guide me gently safely over, To Thy Kingdoms shore, Just a closer walk with thee, grant it Jesus, is my plea. Daily walking close to thee, let it be, dear Lord, let it be..."

Mother Virgie Lee Rountree Elliott received her wings on the eleventh day of December while a valetudinarian of the Vidant Chowan Hospital, Edenton, NC at twelve forty-five in the afternoon. Mother Elliott was born to the late John and Mary Rountree, the youngest of twenty-two children.

Mrs. Elliott at an early age joined Greater Welch and served in various capacities including: Missionary, Pastor Support, Usher and Choir and Sunday School. She supported every program and event that took place at the church. Later in life she married John Wallace Elliott who preceded her in death.to this union eight children were born, a son: Minister Wallace Elliott (Rosie) preceded her in death.

The loving and devoted offspring of Mother Elliott found it nothing but fitting to schedule her Celebration of Life Services to be held on the terra firma of Greater Welchs Chapel in Tyner, NC on Thursday, the seventeenth day of December starting precisely at the eleven o'clock hour.

Due to the current Pandemic that we are being faced with at this time, known as Covid-19, we will be practicing social distancing, and all proper safety protocols will be strictly enforced (including but not limited to wearing of proper face coverings) by all attendees, during the service.

Ninety-one years of a life well lived has been left to her children- Hattie Elliott of the home, Virgil Wrighton of Hertford, NC, Shirley Riddick (Armie) of Raleigh,NC, Ramona Branch (James) of Sunbury, NC, Juanita Parks of Tyner, NC, Jeanette Rouson (Curtis) of Edenton, NC and David Elliott of Tyner, NC; thirty-one grandchildren; twenty-three great grandchildren; and fourteen great great grandchildren; brother-in-law: Kermit Elliott (Annie) of Edenton, NC; a dear niece and Goddaughter: Minnie Britt of Tyner, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews cousins and friends.
