Mordecia "Morty" Riddick, Sr. Obituary

"ALL night, ALL day, ANGELS are watching over the RIDDICK FAMILY"

With broken hearts and tearful eyes we collaborate with the mourning Riddick Family to announce the demise of their beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend; Mordecia Wyatt Riddick, Sr.. "Morty" as he was affectionately called, traded in his chef hat for his Angel wings, on Thursday, February the fourteenth two thousand nineteen at Sentara Albemarle Hospital, Elizabeth City, NC; surrounded by his loving and devoted family members. He was the son of the late Lee Riddick and Katy Harrell Riddick.

Mordecia played significant roles in the many lives that he touched, some that will forever live through the memories of his family members and friends are Mordecia being a true PRAYER WARRIOR and an outstanding CHEF.

The Riddick Family has chosen to have a public viewing of this eminent man on Wednesday, February the twentieth two thousand nineteen at Melton Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Winfall, NC. Family and friends will be able to greet and provide comfort to the Riddick Family from the chosen hours of six o'clock until eight o'clock in the evening. On Thursday, February the twenty-first, a second viewing will start promptly at eleven o'clock in the morning until eleven fifty-nine. Exequies will start promptly at twelve noon, with Rev. Arthur Manigault as the Officiant and Bishop John Harrell bringing forth words of comfort, the Pastor of Melton Grove Missionary Baptist Church is Rev. Alvin J. Boone, Sr.. Mr. Riddick final place of rest will be with his family members in the Riddick Family Cemetery.

Mordecia leaves to cherish many fond memories to his wife-Linda Riddick of the home; six beautiful daughters-Karen Johnson, Edna Anderson, Susie Riddick, Najah Riddick ,Katy Riddick, and Monica Riddick;  four sons, Darrell Riddick, Mordecia Riddick Jr, Terrance Riddick, and Tyshiem Dillard; six adopted children, Jeffery, Nephra, Ceo, Salee, Umeek, Yahmean; four step children, Natasha Parker (Roosevelt), Christal Wideman, Robert Williams, and Da’Quan Williams; one sister, Janet Hodnett; three brothers, Roland Riddick (LueEllen), James Lewis, and LeRoy Riddick (Sherldine);  two godsons- Xavier Mahddo, Terrance Stewart; 21 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

The Riddick Family has entrusted Mordecia into the professional care of the Dennis J. Stallings Memorial Funeral Home, to provide unprecedented, sincere personalized and compassionate services to them during the final care of process for Mordecia. Please continue to uplift the Riddick Family and the connected families through words of comfort, prayers, hugs, thought or a smile or two.
