ALL day and ALL night ANGELS are watching over the Johnson Family
"One of these morning, it won't be long you'll look for me and I'll be gone...I'm going to a place where there'll be nothing to do but simply walk around Heaven ALL DAY.."
On Monday, March 14, 2022, God looked around his Garden and decided to add another beautiful flower to his beautiful bouquet, this special flower was our mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin and friend Geneva Dillard Johnson. Geneva slipped peacefully into eternal rest in the comfort of her home and surrounded by her loving children, family and a special friend Katie Cake.
Mother Geneva was the daughter of William and Lilly Dillard. She was reared in a Christian home and joined Leigh's Temple AME Zion Church at an early age and remained a devoted member until her passing. Mother Johnson worked for the IXL Furniture Company for over twenty-three years.
The Johnson Family has unanimously decided to pay tribute to two special family members who transitioned twenty-four hours apart on Sunday, March 27, 2022. Friends and family members will have the opportunity to view Mrs. Johnson's earthly shell starting at two o'clock in the afternoon at Mt. Lebanon AME Zion Church, Culpepper Street, Elizabeth City, NC. At three o'clock the Celebration of Life services will be orchestrated under the direction of Pastor Charlie Bowe.
Social distancing and mask restrictions will be followed during all services.
Mother Johnson leaves to cherish ninety seven years of fond memories to her children: Clinton Johnson, Leon Johnson (Cynthia) all of Elizabeth City, NC and Diane Johnson of Brooklyn, NY; special cousin-Connie Freeman of Brooklyn, NY; one son in-law-Luther James of Elizabeth City, NC; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The Johnson Family bestowed the honor upon the team of Dennis J. Stallings Memorial Funeral Home of Gatesville, NC to serve them during their time of bereavement. DJSMFH professional team will assist the Johnson Family during their hours of bereavement and beyond through unprecedented, sincere, heartfelt, compassionate and detailed personalized services catered to the Johnson Family wishes and desires. Please continue to uplift the family of Mother Geneva Dillard-Johnson and all connected families through words of comfort, telephone calls/text messages, prayers, "virtual" hugs, thoughts or even just a smile.
