Little did we know early Tuesday morning that God would dispatch his Angels to the bedside of Gaither James, he bid no one his last farewell or even said goodbye, he was gone before the James Family knew it and only our God knows why. Gaither was the son of the late Tommy and Eula Cross James.
Mr. James may not have had many hobbies but one of his number one loves was his love for his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Mr. James was a member of the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ of the Apostolic Faith of Elizabeth City, NC for a number of years. He loved attending church when his health allowed him to do so.
Mr. James was the husband of Francis Brothers James and to this union they were blessed with eight dynamic children. Before retirement Mr. James worked as a welder.
The James Family has decided to Celebrate ninety-one years of Life of their husband, father, grandfather by having his Homegoing Service on Saturday, February 22, 2020 in the Auditorium on the Campus of Sheep Harney Elementary School, School of the Creative Arts in Elizabeth City, NC. Homegoing Services will begin at two o'clock in the Afternoon, with Deacon Roscoe James bringing forth words of comfort to the family and friends. Mr. James final resting place will be at the Memory Gardens Cemetery on Northside Road in Elizabeth City, NC.
Mr. Gaither James leaves to cherish many years of teaching, memories and love to his wife-Francis James, four beautiful daughters-Lavern Brown, Arnella Harris, Rev. Francis Collins (Rev. James Collins) and Yolanda Brown; four handsome sons-Gwayland James (Debrina), Sanford James (Mary), Shelton James (Wendy) and Lionel James; two outstanding sisters-Doris Green and Jenny Freshwater; the apple of his eyes his twenty amazing grandchildren, twenty five phenomenal great grandchildren; five extraordinary great-great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The James Family chose their family at the Dennis J. Stallings Memorial Funeral Home, to carry out their wishes to honor their husband, father and grandfather. DJSMFH professional staff will assist the James Family during their time of bereavement and beyond through unprecedented, sincere, heartfelt, compassionate and personalized detailed services. Please continue to uplift the immediate family of Mr. Gaither James and all connected families through words of comfort, prayer, hug, thought or a smile!
