It is with sincere heartfelt sympathy that we announce the passing of a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend Ms. Vergie Lee Norfleet Skinner , of Gates, NC. Ms. Skinner slipped peacefully into the arms of the Lord during the early morning hours, on Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at the Elizabeth City Health and Rehabilitation Center in Elizabeth City, NC.
Services of Triumph will take place on Saturday, August 25, 2018 at one o'clock in the afternoon at the New Middle Swamp Missionary Baptist Church. Vergie 's earthly shell will lie in state for one hour prior to start of the Triumphant Services of her life. Ms. Skinner final resting place be in the Church Cemetery.
Vergie was born on February 14, 1934 to the late Arthur and Sophia Norfleet and was the fifth child born to this union.
Vergie was a kind and gentle person and was loved by those who knew her. She was a special lady with a sweet smile and beautiful nature. She was a loving and devoted mother to her five children, three of which preceded her in death… Jacqueline, Ronnie and Roosevelt Jr.
Her memory will forever be remembered and cherished by her two loving and devoted sons, Earl (Zenobia) of Hertford, North Carolina and Bennie (Rosa) of Suffolk, Virginia. Eleven grandchildren: Kesha, Clarissa, Natisha, Ashley, Linda, Felicia, Diane, Wendy, Kenny, Bennie Jr., and Ronnie; eight great grandchildren and her faithful and longtime CNA attendant Hilda Rascoe, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends
The Norfleet-Skinner Families selected the professionals at the Denis J. Stallings Memorial Funeral Home to assist them during their time of bereavement and beyond through sincere, compassionate and personalized services for Ms. Skinner . Please continue to uplift the entire Norfleet and Skinner Families through words of comfort, a hug, thought or maybe even just a simple smile.
