Obituary

"ALL day and ALL night ANGELS are watching over the Lilly and Skinner Families"

"Victory is Mine, Victory is Mine, Victory today is mine..."

Mrs. Rosie Lilly, peacefully transitioned from this earthly life on October 9, 2026, leaving behind a beautiful legacy of unwavering faith, unconditional love, and devotion to family. A cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, and friend, she touched the lives of generations through her kindness, her powerful testimony, and her steadfast love for the Lord. Her life was a reflection of grace, faithfulness, and love, and her memory will forever be treasured by all who were blessed to know her.

She was born on April 26, 1935, in Perquimans County, North Carolina, to Roseanna Skinner and Mose Skinner. Later in life she met and married the late Melvin Lilly.

Yet, above all else, Rosie loved the Lord and she never hesitated to tell others about Him. Her faith was not simply something she believed; it was something she lived and shared. She loved to sing, speak about the goodness of God, and witness to everyone she encountered. Whether through a conversation, a song, or a personal testimony, Rosie sought opportunities to remind others of God's love and faithfulness.

The church held a special place in Rosie's life. She loved attending worship, being in the presence of the Lord, and remaining connected to her church family. Even during her final days, her desire to be at church remained strong. Her love for her pastor and her church family was a testament to the spiritual home that meant so much to her. Rosie lived her faith with sincerity and conviction. She understood that witnessing was not reserved for a pulpit; it could happen anywhere, with anyone, and at any moment. Her life served as a reminder that a testimony does not end when the words are spoken it continues through the lives touched by those words.

Family was one of Rosie's greatest blessings. She cherished the generations that followed her and leaves behind a family connected by shared memories, enduring love, and the values she demonstrated throughout her life. The roots she established will continue to bear fruit through her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

The family will celebrate the life of Rosie on Wednesday, October 14 from 5:00-7:00 PM at Melton Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Winfall, NC where family and friends will gather to reflect on the life of Rosie. On Thursday, October 15 starting at 11:00 AM, the family and friends will reconvene for the Celebration of Life Services. The Eulogy will be given by Bishop David L. White. Rosie will be interred next to her husband in the Cedarwood Cemetery, Hertford, NC.

Rosie leaves to cherish her precious memory her sister, Edna Skinner; her daughters, Constance Brown and Shieliah (Dale) Bellamy; and a loving family spanning several generations, including her beloved grandchildren- Xavier (Amy) Everett, Theda Everett, Tonya (Ellis) Gillchrist, Tyvonder (Eric) Jones, Kne (Jermaine) Jones, Tesha Lilly Anderson, James Everett III, Michael (Mary) Everett, Lauran Lilly, and Erik Lilly.

She also leaves a host of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, each carrying forward a part of her legacy, along with her nieces and nephews.

Though her earthly journey has ended, the lessons she taught, the prayers she prayed, the songs she sang, and the love she gave will continue to live in the hearts of those who knew her. Her legacy is not measured by the years alone, but by the faith she demonstrated, the people she encouraged, and the generations who will continue to call her name with love.
