"Lillie shall wear her crown, soon as her feet strike Zion, she's going to lay down her heavy burdens, put on her robe in glory, she's going to shout and tell Him her story..."

On Saturday, the first day of February 2020, Lillie Marie Brown-Riddick traded in her ushers/nurses uniform for her CROWN and ROBE. The "queen" of the Riddick family transitioned peacefully surrounded by her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and other family members at her bedside, in the comfort of her home.

Mrs. Riddick left detailed plans for her children to follow and they will grant their "queen" all of her final wishes. Lillie is now with the Lord awaiting her special "crowning" ceremony.

Lillie 's earthly crowning ceremony will take place on Saturday, February the eighth two thousand twenty at the one o'clock hour. Friends will have time to view her earthly vessel one hour prior to the start of the service. Rev. Dr. Michael Barclift will bring forth words of comfort for the Brown-Riddick Families.

Lillie was joined in Holy Matrimony to the late William Henry Riddick, Sr. for over forty years and to this union six children were born.

Lillie LOVED the Lord, accepted God into her life at an early age, exemplified HIM throughout her entire life. She joined Mount Carmel Missionary Baptist Church early in life where she remained a faithful member until she was called to greater missions. She served as Missionary, on the Nurses Aid Board and was very active with the state prison ministry.

As a proud and last surviving member of the "The Golden Girls", she was dedicated to serving others and her community. She loved her family and friends. Most often, you would find her enjoying a game of Dominoes, Trouble or UNO, while telling jokes to spread laughter. Lillie was a very social and an outgoing lover of people.

Lillie Marie Brown-Riddick leaves to cherish, who she loved dearly her loving children-Cora Griffin (Lemuel), William Riddick, Mary Walker, Valerie Harris (Paul), Gail Riddick and Delon Riddick; loving sisters-Doris Griffin, Carolyn Melvin (the late Lendo), Joyce Chavis (Carnel), Vivian McPherson, Alise White (Samuel); four brothers-John Brown (Edna), Muhammad Freeman (Ruth), George Lee Freeman (Rachel), Carlton Freeman (Louise); eleven grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The Brown-Riddick Families carried out the wishes of their beautiful mother and chose her funeral home of choice, the  Dennis J. Stallings Memorial Funeral Home, to carry out her final wishes.
