Our beloved Fred D. Simmons, Sr., took the hand of the Lord and was taken to his Heavenly home on Sunday, January 28, 2018 surrounded by his loving and dedicated family by his bedside.

Fred was the son of the late Weldon and Cornetta Simmons of Barco, NC and the widow of Joyce-Etheridge Simmons.

The Simmons family will celebrate his life during a Celebration of Life service that will take place on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at the Good Hope AME Zion Church, Moyock, NC starting at noon, Elder TJ Etheridge, will bring forth the Eulogy. A viewing will take place Friday evening from 6:00-8:00 PM at the Center Chapel AME Zion Church.

Fred leaves to cherish many fond memories of his life to two daughters-Cynthia Simmons of Bronx, NY and Vanessa Lewis of Charlotte, NC; two sons-Fred D. Simmons, Jr. of Temple, GA and Anthony Simmons of New Jersey; one sister-Jean Dunlap of Barco, NC; eighteen grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren; a host of cousins, family and friends.

The Simmons family entrusted their father, brother, grandfather Mr. Fred D. Simmons in to the dedicated and capable care of the Dennis J. Stallings Memorial Funeral Home. Please continue to uplift the Simmons family, the township of Barco and all connected families in your prayers during their time of bereavement.
