" ALL day and ALL night ANGELS are watching over the White Family"
"Precious Lord, take my hand
Lead me on, let me stand
I am tired, I am weak, I am worn
Through the storm, through the night
Lead me on to the light
Take my hand, precious Lord
Lead me home..."
During the early afternoon hours of Friday, August 28, 2026, Dr. Catherine G. White answered the call to come home to be with the Lord. Dr. White was a beloved mother, grandmother, pastor, mentor, and friend whose life touched the hearts of countless people. She was the cherished daughter of the late Joseph and Mamie Gilliam.
"When we all get to heaven,
what a day of rejoicing that will be
When we all see Jesus, we'll sing and shout the victory!"
She was the Pastor of Parsons Temple Fellowship Church in Hertford, NC, for a number of years. Dr. White lived the life she preached. Through every circumstance and regardless of what life presented, she remained steadfast in her faith and committed to the Word of God. She instilled in all who knew her the importance of keeping Heaven as the ultimate goal. Whenever faced with a difficult situation or decision, she would often remind others to ask themselves, “What would Jesus do?” Her faith was not simply something she spoke about—it was a way of life that she demonstrated each and every day.
The life and legacy of Dr. Catherine G. White will be honored and remembered during services beginning on Friday, September 11, 2026. A viewing will be held at Parsons Temple Fellowship Church in Hertford, North Carolina, from 2:00 until 5:00 p.m. Immediately following the viewing, a Memorial Through Music will be held at 6:00 p.m. at First Missionary Baptist Church in Hertford, North Carolina.
“Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.” — Matthew 5:8 (KJV)
On Saturday, September 12, 2026, the Triumphant Homegoing Celebration will be held at New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Hertford, North Carolina. Following the service, Dr. White’s earthly remains will be laid to rest in a catacomb at Cedarwood Cemetery in Hertford, North Carolina, beside her beloved husband, the late Willie White.
Dr. White leaves to cherish her precious memories her daughter, Paulita Powers; two sons, Solomon Ben-Yahudah and Gerald White; siblings; a host of grandchildren; spiritual children and grandchildren; church members; and countless family members, friends, and loved ones whose lives were forever blessed by her presence.
"....It is well
With my soul
It is well, it is well with my soul..."
Though she has completed her earthly journey, the faith she shared, the lives she touched, and the legacy she leaves behind will continue to live on. Her work on earth is finished, her race has been run, and her faith remains a lasting testimony to all who knew and loved her.
