"ALL day and ALL night ANGELS are watching over the Stallings Family"

"One of these mornings it won't be very long

I'm going to a place where there'll be nothing, nothing to do
But simply walk around Heaven all day

Nobody will be able to put me out
My mother, she'll be waiting, my father and my husband too
We'll get together and walk around Heaven all day..."

On the evening of August 18, 2023, the loving hand of the Heavenly Father escorted our dear  beautiful mother, grandmother, aunt, sister and friend- Dorothy "Lil Sis" Victoria Lassiter Stallings into his eternal home with her son and family by her side at ECU Health in Greenville, NC. Dorothy was born on May 15, 1945 in Chowan County, NC., to the late Joe Frank and Sarah Lee Lassiter.

On July 3, 1973 Dorothy married the late Willie Van Stallings and with this union they had two sons.

Lil Sis as she was known by to so many, had a love for cooking and baking and everyone loved to eat her food. She would feed anybody she came in contact with. Her hospitality was immaculate. She loved gardening and taking many trips to various stores. She was also known for her beautiful smile. In her leisure time she loved watching wrestling, Family Feud and the "Stories" (Soap Operas). Lil Sis was very outspoken, had a big heart, and was a loving person. Even when she knew her health was failing she still continued to help others.

The Stallings Family will commemorate a life well lived on Friday, September 1, 2023 starting at the hour of four until seven, in the chancel of the St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church located in Sunbury, NC. On Saturday, September 2, 2023 the Celebration of Life Service will start promptly at noon, with Pastor Virgil Corpew and other Clergy providing the family and friends with words of comfort to last for the days and weeks to come. After the final viewing of Lil Sis' earthly shell she will be laid to rest in the terra firma of the St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.

To cherish her memories, her survivors include: two sons William Tyrone Stallings (Lisa) of Belvidere, NC; Terry Lee Stallings (Carletha Burden-Crocker) of Hobbsville, NC; three sisters; Fannie Coefield of Portsmouth, VA; Josephine Riddick of Hertford, NC; Lois Lassiter of Hobbsville, NC; one granddaughter Ariana Stallings of Elizabeth City, NC; two great grandsons Aamir and Chance Stallings of Elizabeth City, NC; one goddaughter Kenisha Battle of Greenville, NC; five sister-in laws; Hurley Faye Roberts of Hobbsville, NC; Connie Welch of Elizabeth City, NC; Mary Ann Beamon of Sunbury, NC; Alice Lassiter of Sunbury, NC; Elsie Mae Stallings of Elizabeth City, NC; one brother-in-law Horace Stallings (Linda) of Sunbury, NC; a special friend James Jordan and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends. Lil Sis also loved and enjoyed being a grandmother to Quamier and QaMiyah Gibbs.

The Stallings Family entrusted the team of Dennis J. Stallings Memorial Funeral Home of Gatesville, NC to serve them during their time of bereavement. DJSMFH professional team will assist the Stallings Family during their hours of bereavement and beyond through unprecedented, sincere, heartfelt, compassionate and detailed personalized services catered to the Stallings Family wishes and desires.
