It is with deep sympathy that we the staff and management of Dennis J. Stallings Memorial Funeral Home, mourns with the Brothers family in the passing of Mr. Dempsey Brothers, Sr., of Elizabeth City, NC, who transitioned on Monday, January 1, 2018 at Sentara Albemarle Hospital, Elizabeth City, NC.
A funeral service will be conducted at Grace and Truth Community Church, Elizabeth City, NC on Sunday, January 7, 2018 at 2:00 pm. The Eulogy will be given by Rev. Kevin Fisher and Rev. Iris Dance as the Presider. Interment will take place at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Elizabeth City, NC. The viewing will be one hour prior to the service from 1:00-2:00 PM .
Mr. Brothers was the son of the late George Madison Brothers and Omedia Walton Brothers and the husband of Sarah Parker Brothers of the home.
In addition to his wife of 75 years, survivors include 5 daughters: Edith B. Davis (Preston), Sarah B. Wills, Catherine B. Harvey (Johnnie III), Grace B. Lamb (Gregory) and Tielue B. Knight (Eugene), 10 sons: Dempsey Brothers, Jr. (Janice), Rev. Otis Brothers, Eugene Brothers (Margaret), William Brothers (Carol), Jimmy Brothers (Susan), Issac Brothers (Glendora), Wallace Brothers, Andrew Brothers (Kathryn) Demosthenes (Karen) and Odell Brothers, 1 sister: Francis B. James (Gaither), 1 brother: William Brothers (Sadie) 39 grandchildren, 58 great grandchildren, 6 great great grandchildren; 5 sister in laws- Elsie Brothers of Elizabeth City, NC, Gladys Cadoria (Adrain), Shirley Vickers and Eunice Delrese-Parker all of Virginia Beach VA and Mattie Parker-Martin of Asheboro, NC; two brother-in laws-Elbert Parker, Jr, of Virginia Beach, VA and Willie Gorham of Elizabeth City, NC.; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family of Mr. Dempsey Brothers, Sr., has entrusted Dennis J. Stallings Memorial Funeral Home in the final care of their loved one. Please keep the Brothers family in your prayers and thoughts during these days of bereavement.
