Constance "Connie" Lilly
Brown
Oct 24, 1951 — Oct 16, 2026
Elizabeth City
" ALL day and ALL night ANGELS are watching over the Lilly, Everett and Brown Families"
"You brought me through this and you brought me through that Lord I'm so grateful to you, you made a way out of no way Lord and I'm grateful, to you---not only that, you brought me through sickness, thank you Lord, heartaches and pain Lord I'm so grateful to you..."
In the early morning hours of Friday, October 16, 2026, our beloved Constance L. Brown, affectionately known as “Connie,” peacefully departed this life, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and cherished memories. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, educator, faithful servant of the Lord, and a treasured friend. Connie was a woman whose presence spoke volumes, whose kindness touched countless lives, and whose love was felt deeply by all who knew her. Her life was a beautiful testament to unwavering faith, compassion, discipline, generosity, and unconditional love—qualities that will forever remain in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
Constance loved the Lord with all her heart. Her faith was not simply something she professed; it was the foundation upon which she built her life. She loved praise and worship, especially singing in the choir and lifting her voice in honor of the One who had carried her through every season. She found comfort and strength in gospel music, particularly Timothy Wright’s “Brought Me Through This,” a song that reflected the faith and perseverance she held dear.
Constance devoted much of her professional life to education, serving as a kindergarten teacher assistant at Hertford Grammar School/ Perquimans Central school until her retirement. She loved working in the school system and understood the importance of creating a welcoming, nurturing environment where children could learn and grow. Retirement did not diminish the educator in her. Constance continued teaching through conversations, family gatherings, practical advice, and the everyday wisdom she freely shared with those around her.
As a mother, Constance loved her children dearly. She wanted the best for them and worked to instill values that would guide them long after her words had faded from the room. She taught them to do right, treat people with love, remain faithful to God, and trust that goodness is never wasted. Her love for her grandchildren was equally profound. She cherished them, celebrated their presence, and took joy in watching her family grow through generations. Her great-granddaughter held a special place in the family story, representing the continuation of a legacy built on love, faith, and family connection. To Connie, family was more than a name or a relationship. Family was a commitment, a responsibility, a blessing, and a reason to keep showing up.
"....Lord I'm so grateful. You made a way out of no way. You opened doors that were closed in my face.
I thought i couldn't take it, some said i couldn't make it. Lord I'm grateful,
lord I'm so grateful, to you..."
