Obituary

"ALL day and ALL night ANGELS are watching over the Kee Family"

"I can't give up
I can't give up now
See, I've come, I've come too far
To turn around, turn around now..."

During the evening hours of Wednesday, June 24, 2026, our beloved father, son, brother, uncle, and grandfather, Andrew Lonelle Kee, peacefully transitioned into eternal rest in the comforting presence of his Savior at Sentara Albemarle Medical Center, surrounded by the unwavering love and devotion of his family. He was the cherished son of Theresa Kee and the late Andrew Lee Kee, whose love and guidance helped shape the remarkable man he became.

Lonnie found immense joy in caring for lawns, listening to music, spending time at the race track, and sharing jokes that were always accompanied by his unforgettable laugh. His warm spirit and sense of humor brought happiness to everyone he encountered. He had a special affection for his nieces and nephews and treasured every opportunity to gather with family. A true music enthusiast, Lonnie often served as the DJ at family gatherings and celebrations, creating lasting memories through the music he loved and the joy he shared.

The life and legacy of Lonnie "Big Kee" Kee will be celebrated with a public viewing on Friday, July 10, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at New Ramoth Gilead Baptist Church in Elizabeth City, North Carolina. On Saturday, July 11, 2026, family and friends will gather for a Homegoing Celebration, offering an epitaphial tribute to a man whose kindness, humor, and unwavering devotion to family have inscribed an enduring legacy upon the hearts of all who knew and loved him. Services will take place at the Memory Gardens Cemetery in Elizabeth City, North Carolina, starting at 11:00 a.m.,  with Bishop David L. White, bringing forth words of comfort.

"...But then when I begin to take inventory over my life
When I turn around and look back over my life
I can see all the healed
I can see all the mountain
I can see all the valleys..."

Lonnie leaves to cherish his precious memory his devoted son, Anthony Chiofolo; his loving mother, Theresa Kee; two sisters, Lena Kee Davis (Olandors) and Taneisha Kee; two brothers, Tony Lane (Keisha) and Torey Kee (Alicia); and his beloved granddaughters, Mila Chiofolo and Zulayka Chiofolo. He also leaves a host of cherished nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, extended family members, dear friends, and loved ones who will forever treasure his memory and deeply miss his love, laughter, and presence.
