Wilbert Morris Banks answered the call of the Lord and transitioned peacefully to his new home in Glory in the night hour on Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at the Elizabeth City Health and Rehabilitation Center, Elizabeth City, NC. Wilbert was surrounded by his loving and devoted family by his bedside when he was called home. Wilbert was a loving father, grandfather, uncle, brother-in-law, cousin and friend.
Wilbert was preceded in death by the apple of his eye his beloved wife Susie Whitehurst-Banks. Where for many years, you could hear her on Sunday mornings on WGAI, saying, "Wake up Wilbert." He was the son of Georgetta Banks and Winiford Morris.
Requiem Services for Wilbert will take place on Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at the one o'clock hour at Memorial Missionary Baptist Church, Elizabeth City, NC, where Rev. Andre' Turner is the Senior Pastor and he will Oficiate of the service. Viewing of his earthly remains will take place on Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at the church from five o'clock until seven o'clock. Wilbert's final place of rest will be next to his wife in the Memory Gardens Cemetery, Elizabeth City, NC.
Wilbert leaves many years of fond memories to his daughter-Kaysha Banks of Elizabeth City, NC; two sons-Jeremy Banks and Terrence "Toot" Banks (Fiancé Deborah Key) all of Elizabeth City, NC; two sisters Los Angles Crutch and Doris Morris; one brother Winifred Morris; eight grandchildren; three great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Kaysha, Jeremy and Terrance followed the request of their parents and entrusted their family at the Dennis J. Stallings Memorial Funeral Home to carry out all of their final wishes for their father. DJSMFH professional staff will assist the Banks Family during their time of bereavement and beyond through unprecedented, heartfelt and compassionate detailed services. Please continue to uplift the immediate family of Wilbert M. Banks and all connected families through words of comfort, prayers, hugs, thoughts or a smile or two.
