"ALL day, ALL night, ANGELS are watching over the SPENCE FAMILY"
"...Accept what God allows,
Even when you don't understand accept every trial
Accept even now, He'll give you a smile
Put it in his hands, He has a master plan,
Your trial is but a stepping stone
It will lead you to his Heavenly home.."
Though the clouds may hangover the Spence Family, there will be brighter days. During the evening hours of Thursday, the second day of May, two thousand nineteen, Welton "Big Welt" Spence, answered the call of the Lord and gained his Angel Wings surrounded by his devoted children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and other family members.
Welton was the son of the late Edward and Bessie Spence. On December 22, 1952 he was united in Holy Matrimony to the love of his life the late Alice Jean Armstrong Spence. "Big Welt" as he was affectionately called by his family and friends loved farming, fishing, gardening, traveling, hunting and welding but nothing brought more joy to his heart and love in his eyes than spending time with his family, he was genuinely a family man.
The offspring of Welton have unanimously agreed upon the following arrangements for their father. On Friday, the tenth day of May two thousand nineteen starting at eleven o'clock in the morning, at Mount Carmel Missionary Baptist Church, friends and family will have time to view his earthly shell and reflect on the eighty-four years of fond memories that he has bestowed upon them. At the noon hour, the Celebration of Life Service will begin. At the conclusion of the Celebration of Life Service, Welton R. Spence, will be laid to rest in the Angels Division of the Memory Gardens Cemetery, Elizabeth City, NC next to his beloved wife.
Welton leaves to cherish many years of love to his six devoted children- Welton L. Spence (Mary), Faye V. Williams (Roosevelt), Manzie T. Spence, Sheila L. Spence, Jerry M. Spence (Jennifer) and Tony Spence (Lovell); four grandsons-Todd Spence, Darryl Spence, Marcus Munden and Jarrett Spence; eight-granddaughters- Sherdawn Harris, Tenisha Whidbee (Thomas), LaToya Spence, DeAnndra Williams, Toneya Spence, Chena Spence, Danielle Spence and Nakia Spence; great and great-great grandchildren; four sisters-Ella Taylor (Tyrone), Annie Gardner (William), Theresa Williams (Tyrone) and Marietta Townsend (Kent); two caring brothers-J.
