Joseph "Joe" Smith, Jr. Obituary

"ALL night, ALL day, ANGELS are watching over the Smith Family"

"Joe shall wear a crown,
When it's all over ,
Joe shall see His face,
When it's all over ,
Joe's going to put on his robe, tell the story how he made it over..."

During the midnight hour, on Wednesday, May fifteenth , two thousand nineteen Mr. Joseph "Joe" Smith, Jr., slipped peacefully into his final rest, in the comfort of his home and earned his crown and slipped on his robe and made it over to be with Lord. Mr. Smith was surrounded by his loving and devoted family during the time of his transitioning.

Mr. Smith was the son of the late Joseph and Fannie Smith. He was loved by all who knew him and came in contact with him, he was affectionately known as Mr. Smith or Uncle Joe by many.

The Smith Family would like to honor Mr. Smith's life by having a "true" CELEBRATION OF LIFE service. This joyous not somber occasion has been planned for the one o'clock hour on Friday, the twenty-fourth day of May two thousand nineteen at Faith in Action Church, Norfolk, VA. The preached word will be given by Apostle Marvin Smith. The Smith Family would like for all individuals that are planning to attend, to come prepared to worship and praise, most importantly come prepared to CELEBRATE LIFE!

Mr. Smith leaves to cherish eighty-five years of fond memories to his devoted wife-Pastor Pearlie Smith of Elizabeth City, NC; two sons-Trenton Holland of Virginia and Joseph Smith, III of Elizabeth City; one daughter-Kelly Smith of Maryland; one sister-Faye Beethea; one brother-Lest Smith; one special aunt-Mother Emma Ricks; a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The Smith Family has entrusted "Joe" into the professional care of the Dennis J. Stallings Memorial Funeral Home, to provide unprecedented, sincere personalized and compassionate services to them during the final care of process for Mr. Smith. Please continue to uplift the Smith Family and the connected families through words of comfort, prayers, hugs, thought or a smile or two.
